This fall, the First Congregational Church in Western Springs will begin to follow the guidlines set out by the insurance industry for what is called “Safe Church Practice.” This involves a number of different aspects of helping to keep everyone in the building safe. The one that will impact us the most, is that the outside of the building will now be locked 24/7.
To gain access, each family will be provided with a keycard which will allow you to open the back (north) entrance to the building. The elevator will be available for us to use to get to the third floor, but during some hours, you may need to swipe your card again to choose the third floor button in the elevator. The church is still working out all the details of the system, and when they have worked out the bugs, they will begin to distribute the keycards to us. You will receive your keycard from Patrick Connolly.
In the event that you forget your card, there is a doorbell next to the back door that will ring on either Patrick or my cell phone and we can let you into the building that way as well.
