WSSTE Alum Vince Meklis to perform Sibelius with CCPA Orchestra
January 11, 2019
WSSTE Alumnus, Vincent Meklis will perform the Sibelius Violin Concerto with the Chicago College of Performing Arts orchestra at Orchestra Hall in Chicago. The concert, which is free to the public will take place on Wednesday evening, February 6th at 7:30 PM. The concert will also feature the Bruckner Symphony No. 7.
We would love to support Vince...and have our students be inspired by his performance. We are looking into acquiring a coach to take us from Western Springs to Orchestra hall. If you are interested in going on the bus, please contact Patrick Connnolly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Vince Meklis grew up at the Western Springs School of Talent Education where he started violin lessons at the age of three with Suzanne Brookes Rickman. He studied with Thomas Wermuth throughout high school and eventually studied with Almita Vamos. His undergraduate degree is from the University of Southern California where he was a student of the world renowned violinist Midori. Vincent returned to Chicago to complete his masters degree at Roosevelt as a student of Almita Vamos. He is performing this concert as a result of winning the 2017 Concerto Competition. Vincent Meklis recently won the violin section audition of the Indianapolis Symphony where he now resides and performs.
