All the cellists in the school will be performing together on February 3 at 2:00 pm at the Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church, 149 West Brush Hill Rd, Elmhurst. Melissa Zindel will be accompanying the group. The students are all members of the WSSTE/NSS school and range in age from 3-17.
In addition to our unison pieces, every group class will be featured in a special performance. The BEGINNER GROUP will have an outstanding demonstration of beautiful posture and performance techniques. The early BOOK ONE group will be doing French Folk Song and the late BOOK ONE group is performing May Song. The BOOK TWO/THREE group is performing Rebecca by Rob Mackay. We will hear At Twilight by Squire from the BOOK THREE/FOUR group classes and finally the BOOK FIVE/SIX group will perform Squire’s Gavotte Humoristique. Cellissimo’s contribution to this cello extravaganza will be the Schubert Andante for two celli and piano, the Van Goens Scherzo and Uptown Funk.
The cello has a rich, deep voice unlike any of the other string instruments. It is most like the human voice in its range of pitches. Please come and support them. If you are considering starting the cello, or know of someone who it, this is a wonderful opportunity to come and enjoy the lovely sounds a cello makes, not to mention 70 at once!
You will not want to miss this performance! Please stay for the party afterward!
