On Wednesday, October 24th, we will be hosting the Suzuki Tour group from Bermuda. We are inviting all Naperville and Western Springs students Twinkle through Book 3 to join together with the students from Bermuda for a fun evening of music. The event will take place in Plymouth Hall on the 2nd floor of First Congregational Church in Western Springs.
Please plan to arrive between 6:00 & 6:30 for tuning. We will begin with a short concert by the Bermuda students, followed by a huge play together with all of the students combined. Followed by donuts and apple cider. This event will take the place of Twinkle - Book 3 violin group classes on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
The Bermuda School of Music will be holding its 5th Suzuki Tour, October 22-25, 2018. The group of 33, ages 5-17, is comprised of 3 cellos, 1 viola and 29 violins. They have been performing together since May and are thrilled to be representing Bermuda on this Tour. In addition to performances with the Western Springs Suzuki Talent Education students, they will also be performing for students in Winnetka, at Chicago Hospitals and in front of the Daley Center in Downtown Chicago. Additionally the group will be attending masterclasses with Mrs. Almita Vamos and a member of the Chicago Symphony.
Leading up the Tour the students will perform a daylong tour in Bermuda held on Friday, October 12th. This event, which helps serve as the stepping stone for the overseas event, will have the group traveling throughout Hamilton to perform 4 concerts during the day. In addition to the performance experience it will help build confidence, motivation and maturity.
The Bermuda School of Music, a not-for-profit registered Bermuda charity #483, has been providing music education to the Island since 1978, commencing with the Dunbarton School of Music. Currently with approximately 1,000 students, its aim to provide community music programs for students of all ages and in areas of need.
The Bermuda School of Music Tour Group’s performances will feature classical music favorites such as The Bee (L’Abeille) and Hunter’s Chorus, fiddle tunes such as the Orange Blossom Special and a Bermuda favorite, Bermuda is Another World.
