Parents - It is Springtime! For musicians….this always means a hectic, crazy, full, inspiring time of the year. This is the time when we show all the hard work that has taken place in lessons, group classes and home practice throughout the year. This year, we are taking our all school group concert to the Beautiful Wentz Concert hall on the campus of North Central College in downtown Naperville. Please carefully check the rehearsal schedule for that week. In an effort to keep the concert from going too long, we will not be presenting our two top ensembles from the school, Cellissimo or Chicago Consort. Please note that these two groups will be presenting their own individual concerts earlier in the month.
For our younger students, these performances are even more important to attend as an audience member than as a performer. Here is where your child will be truly inspired. They will hear a piece, watch a performer, connect to the music, imagine themselves on that stage one day. Suzuki parents often wonder what they can do to make their home practice easier. Attending these special concerts is certainly one way to motivate your child in practice at home. If you haven't already, please read this wonderful essay from our April newsletter by cello student Maeve Masterson.
