We are now in the "home stretch" of the 2017 - 18 school year. It has already been an amazing year and there is still much more to come. We have planned solo and group performing opportunities for our students, as well as special performances by Cellissimo, Chicago Consort and Allegro!!! Please be sure to attend this motivational performances with your child. One of the most important reasons that these programs exist...beyond the musical experience of the children performing in them...is the inspiration they provide for the younger students as they imagine themselves on that stage one day. Part of our role as Parent in the Suzuki Triangle is to provide the opportunities our children need to build their vision as accomplished performers.
We are also about to open the summer registration process for the 2018 Summer term. I just want to remind every parent of the importance of consistency of lessons and practice though the summer months. We have a policy at the school that each child must be registered for a minimum of 9 summer lessons of the length they study throughout the school year. This is important for two reasons. First, so that your child will not regress in the summer months and instead continue to make progress on their musical journey. But secondly, to ensure that our amazing faculty stay employed throughout the summer months. Every member of our teaching team is a professional educator who has chosen Suzuki Teaching as their profession. We understand that summer vacation from school is the time for families to travel to see family or just get away for a much needed break from the routine of every day life. That is why we only require 9 lessons out of our 13 week summer term. Please be creative if you have travel on your agenda for this summer and find a way to double up lessons in the weeks you are in town, or take an extended lesson time and work with your teacher to work on special exercises for music reading and theory, advanced technique or developing musicality in your child's playing.
I look forward to seeing all of you at one of our upcoming musical events.
