Cellissimo will present their annual concert on Saturday May 5 at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary at the First Congregational Church of Western Springs. Tickets are $10 and can be bought in advance from a Cellissimo member, Sally Gross, Alex Revoal or online at wsste.com/cellissimo. Tickets will also be available at the door.
The program includes variety of classical, jazz and pop music ranging from the
Renaissance period to Gershwin and even Simon and Garfunkel. You’ll hear them play in unison and in up to eight different parts, entirely from memory! In addition to some very lovely new pieces in our repertoire such as Sun Up and the Banana Theme, we are also including some Cellissimo staples like The Cello Song that we know everyone looks forward to.
In addition to the annual concerts at First Congregational Church of Western Springs, Cellissimo also frequently goes on tour, having recently visited Ottawa, Montreal, St. Louis, Wisconsin and southwestern Ontario. In 2017 they were honored to perform by special invitation at the SAA’s biennial Leadership Retreat near Columbus, Ohio. This month, they are presenting a joint concert in Kalamazoo with the GraceNotes (under the direction of Grace Field) and another concert in South Bend, IN. Cellissimo’s debut CD is available now from WSSTE!
Sally and Alex are extremely proud of this fabulous group of young musicians. Their preparation and commitment to the group is similar to what Chicago has just witnessed in the Loyola Ramblers. Just like a sports team, the students have a shared high standard of excellence and know that they can count on each other to be on the right beat at the right time. Teamwork at its best!
The concert is not to be missed! We can’t wait to see you there!
