Alex Revoal joined the faculty of the Western Springs School of Talent Education/Naperville Suzuki School in 2006. His extensive pedagogical training includes courses with Jean Dexter, Nancy Hair, Pamela Devenport, Gilda Barston, Carey Beth Hockett, Ed Kreitman, Katherine Wood and Sally Gross. In 2015 he was awarded the Suzuki Association of the America's level 1 Certificate of Achievement. Alex is one of five teachers in the country to have completed Carey Beth Hockett's Cello Group Class teaching fellowship. In the summer, he is a member of the faculties at the Southwestern Ontario Suzuki Institute and the Blue Ridge Suzuki Camp in Virginia.
Alex is passionate about chamber music and along with co-director Ryan Caparella, founded the WSSTE - NSS Summer Chamber Music Camp. The chamber camp will expand to two weeks in the summer of 2018.
Alex holds a Master of Music in Cello Performance and Pedagogy and a Performance Certificate from Northern Illinois University, where he studied with Marc Johnson of the renowned Vermeer Quartet. While at NIU he was a graduate teaching assistant for the Intro. to Music course, and played in the Alla Corda Quartet, a resident graduate ensemble. He has a Bachelor of Music, magna cum laude, from the conservatory of music at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, where he studied with Janet Anthony. Before that, his primary teacher was Carol Tarr.
In addition to WSSTE/NSS, Alex teaches for the Chicago West Community Music Center's WISH program.
