Kontras Quartet

Alex Revoal and Ryan Caparella

Our first ever Summer Chamber Music Camp will kick off the week off with a concert by the renowned Kontras String Quartet. The Chicago based ensemble will perform on Sunday, June 11 at 4pm in the Sanctuary at First Congregational Church of Western Springs (1106 Chestnut St, Western Springs, IL 60558). The event is open to all, and admission is free to WSSTE/NSS students, families and faculty members.

The quartet will perform works by Haydn and Brahms, and a contemporary piece by WSSTE alum, Dan Visconti. Those who were in attendance at the WSSTE 30th Anniversary Concert in 2011 at Orchestra Hall, will remember Kontras cellist Jean Hatmaker (another WSSTE alum) who played the adagio from Haydn’s C major cello concerto so beautifully.

It can be a powerful inspiration for young musicians to get to hear a highly skilled professional ensemble in live performance. We hope to see many of your friendly faces in the audience!
