We are thrilled that our violin faculty, Ms. Nancy Jackson, has been selected as Outstanding Studio Teacher for 2016-2017 by Illinois chapter of ASTA. She was presented this award at the Illinois ASTA luncheon that took place on January 27, 2017. She was nominated by our director Mr. Edward Kreitman, who had this to say:
"Nancy Jackson has been an inspiration to so many students and teachers during her long career as a Suzuki violin teacher and teacher trainer. For the last 25 years she has taught in Illinois, first at Western Illinois University and now at the Western Springs School of Talent Education. Her students consistently win local competitions and many have gone on to University study music.
Nancy has a remarkable relationship with each of her students which often continues through their college and post college years. Former students frequently stop by the school to visit or take Ms. Jackson to lunch.
Her students and their families adore her. She is firm and direct, but her students always know what she expects of them, and she gives them the tools they need to achieve whatever level they with to pursue... but always with excellence. She is more than a music teacher... she is a life coach to so many young people.
As a teacher trainer in the Suzuki Method, she is one of the few trainers who really excels at teacher the upper level volumes and teachers come from all of the country to study with her. She has worked with hundreds of teachers in her career as a teacher trainer and has influenced each of these teachers with a positive and nurturing environment in her classes."
We congratulate Nancy and wish her continued success!
