Welcome back! I know it is still August and we have a little more summer to enjoy, but all of us at the Western Springs School of Talent Education and Naperville Suzuki School are already gearing up for another year of wonderful music-making.
Our most exciting news is that this year marks our school’s 35th Anniversary with a celebratory concert at Orchestra Hall: the home of the Chicago Symphony. The concert will be presented in two parts. The first half will feature our most advanced students and faculty performing together with alumni from the schools. The second half will be a wonderful opportunity for all of our children to perform on this world famous stage in a violin, viola and cello play together. Every student in the school will have the opportunity to be presented in this concert, so save the date: Sunday, May 8th, 2016.
Because this is Mother’s Day, we have decided to make the concert a special tribute to the Moms (and Dads) who are such an important part of the Suzuki Triangle. We will be doing several very special pieces and activities to honor the parents in our program.
In order to make this concert a success we need every student to participate and to bring lots of family and friends to the concert. Please start talking among your circle about planning to make this Mother’s Day the best one ever! What could be a more wonderful way to celebrate than by attending a beautiful concert in a gorgeous hall.
We also welcome a new violin faculty member to the Naperville Suzuki School this year. Maeve O’Hara comes to us from the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music where she was a faculty member in the Suzuki division. Maeve has also served on the faculties of the Queens College Lawrence Eisman Center for Preparatory Studies in Music, Greenwich House Music School, and has maintained a private studio in New York.
If you know of anyone who is interested in music study at either school location, please help us to spread the word about the wonderful experience that your child is having at our school. We will host our annual Open House at both locations this fall: Western Springs on Sunday, September 27th, from 3pm to 5pm and in Naperville on Sunday, October 11th, from 3pm to 5pm.
Recommendations that come from the families in our Suzuki community are incredibly valuable so we are implementing a referral program for currently enrolled families:
If you refer one new student to our school and he or she joins our program, your child will receive a credit towards 2 lessons!
When the new student enrolls for a full, 12-week term, the lesson credits will be applied to the referring family during that same term. (i.e. If the new family joins in the middle of a term, 2 lesson credits will be applied for the referring family at the start of the following term pending the new student’s continuation in the program.)
This referral program is in effect starting in the coming 2015-2016 Fall Term.
You should have received your fall registration materials from Emily Wolfram, Director of Admissions and Finance. If you have not received your packet yet, please contact her immediately at email@example.com or 708.246.9309.
Families may now pay their tuition by check, credit card or ACH payment in person, by mail, or on our website: wsste.com. Please note that credit card payments incur a 3% processing fee. ACH payments made via our website will have no service charge! By offering online payment options, our goal is to streamline the tuition payment process for everyone, which will allow us to better focus our resources on our most important mission: educating your children and growing our program to share a love of music with as many families as possible.
Our partnership with Music Together of Naperville has proven to be very successful. This is a wonderful collaboration between two very compatible music programs. Please check their website at childsplayarts.com, and if you have a child age 0-7, consider enrolling them in this wonderful music program.
Looking ahead, we have many exciting concerts and events planned for the year. Here are a few highlights:
If your student participates in Violin Book 1-3 classes in Naperville, please mark your calendar for a performance at the DuPage Children’s Museum on Friday, September 25th, at 6pm. We will rehearse on the two Wednesday prior to that date to prepare our program. We would like every child to participate in this performance.
Cello group classes will perform an outreach concert at the Naperville 95th St. Library on Thursday, October 1st at 7:00 p.m.
All cellists will return to Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church for our annual Cello Concert on Sunday, November 22nd at 2:00 p.m.
We will all return to Chicago’s Orchestra Hall for our 35th Anniversary Concert on Sunday, May 8th.
We are so looking forward to another exciting year of music-making with you and your children!
