Consider a Musical Christmas gift for your budding violinist, violist or cellist....
Rosin – Every string player needs a cake of rosin in their case. The more advanced the player, the better quality you should buy. Get a recommendation from your teacher.
Metronome – every Book 2 and up musician should own one. Battery operated ones are very reliable, however apps can do amazing things.
Cello Drone CD – This isn’t only for cellists! Each track holds a pitch for 6 minutes. Excellent intonation tool. Can be bought on Amazon.
Chromatic Tuner – either battery operated or app. Very useful for tuning the instrument.
Dampit – helps to keep the instrument humidified and will cut down on the strings loosening, although will not eliminate it.
End Pin holders for Cellists (if you don’t have one already!) – the most reliable is the Xeros strap.
Strings – Have an extra set in your case in case of emergency! Especially an E and A for violinists, and a D and A for cellists. Get a recommendation from your teacher.
Music Stands – get a sturdy one that is also easy to transport. If you are a small reader, get a shorter stand.
The next Suzuki CD and book – now available on iTunes, or in hard copy as always Holiday Christmas Music is always a great gift. The Christmas Kaleidoscope books are excellent for the beginner reader and can be used with any combination of violins, violas, cellos and piano.
