Several weeks ago, Brendan Novak spent time performing in downtown Naperville to raise money to buy meals for children in Haiti. He was able to rasie $78 by playing his cello!
Each summer, Brendan's Sunday school class raises money for various projects to help communities in a very remote part of southern Haiti. This year, the goal was to raise a total of $500 to feed 1,000 children. They were able to raise about $600, thus surpassing their goal! The organization that is responsible for this outreach, New Life for Haiti, concentrates their efforts in this one area of Haiti in hopes of changing these very isolated communities. They have built 4 schools, provide a sponsorship program for kids to receive vitamins, food and schooling and have recently just built their first home for a family of eight.
Brendan studies cello at the Naperville Suzuki School and is a student of Sally Gross.
Thank you to Brendan and Beth Novak for telling us about your experience and for sharing music with the community to support a great cause!
