Alex Revoal joined the faculty of the Western Springs School of Talent Education/Naperville Suzuki School in 2006. His extensive pedagogical training includes courses with Jean Dexter, Nancy Hair, Pamela Devenport, Gilda Barston, Carey Beth Hockett, Ed Kreitman, Katherine Wood and Sally Gross. In 2015 he was awarded the Suzuki Association of the America' level 1 Certificate of Achievement.
Alex holds a Master of Music in Cello Performance and Pedagogy and a Performance Certificate from Northern Illinois University, where he studied with Marc Johnson of the renowned Vermeer Quartet. While at NIU he was a graduate teaching assistant for the Intro. to Music course, and played in the Alla Corda Quartet, a resident graduate ensemble. He has a Bachelor of Music, magna cum laude, from the conservatory of music at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, where he studied with Janet Anthony. Before that, his primary teacher was Carol Tarr. He has had additional studies with Christine Vitoux-Erben, Stephen Harrison and Betsy Anderson, masterclasses and chamber coachings with members of the Vermeer, Pacifica, Brentano, Ives and Cavani Quartets, cellists Lynn Harrell and Anthony Arnone, and pianists Gilbert Kalish and Paula Fan.
In addition to WSSTE/NSS, Alex teaches for the Chicago West Community Music Center's WISH program. He has also been on faculty at the Music Institute of Chicago and the Music Academy of Rockford College (now the Music Academy in Rockford). He is currently a member of the Living Room Players.
